The objective: To sketch out a fantasy interaction as a team.
AV and I teamed up for this assignment. We initially had some crazy ideas that I am going to list below.
The Bulls-eye Urinal:
As the title suggests, the urinal will have bulls-eye on it. In addition to sensing the precision (aim) and giving you props for it, it would analyze the ‘sample’ and give you the analytics regarding your health level. We thought it would reduce splash-back, introduce a play element and give you important health info like hydration levels etc.
The headphones would understand your taste of music based on your head movements while listening to a particular type/genre of songs. It could shuffle the playlist or play more songs that you might like. For example, If you bob your head for a certain type of music, it will sense that you enjoy such music and feed you more of the same. If you are, say, running, the accelerometer could sense that and make the player not play slow music, the kind that might disrupt your rhythm.
Wearable work-out gear:
The Shirt would read your location, heart rate, hydration, blood glucose levels, body temperature etc. So when you are approaching home, it would communicate to your air conditioning unit to pre-cool, your refrigerator to dispense electrolyte at a correct temperature and give things that your body might need at that moment.
The idea that we went ahead with was the “Grand Mother Clock” the infamous relative of the Grandfather Clock.
The Grandmother Clock will essentially nag you into waking up in the morning. It would read into your calendar, your to-do list and your notes and wake you up by nagging about all of that in the morning. It might go something like this…
“Rise and shine!! it is going to be a wonderful day and you have a breakfast meeting in an hour!”
If you do not respond, it might go like…
“Hey get up, you need to be at an early meeting today!!! Wake up! WAKE UUP!”
If you still keep ignoring, that is when the clock starts smacking you with its in-built arms.
We thought it would have a personality which is loving at first and gets irritable progressively when ignored.
