This might sound trivial but I am really bothered by the fact that we never promptly fold clothes as soon as the laundry is done. It lies around for a couple of days before either of us finds time to fold them up and store them. The folding process is usually triggered by having no place to store dirty laundry. My initial idea was that, when I take the laundry bag to the basement laundry and finish up, I would have to fold them immediately in order to find space to store unwashed clothes. This system kind of broke down as unwashed clothes found places for themselves on chairs etc.
Hence I decided to observe our behavior around laundry bag full of freshly washed clothes. On the first day, we did not move it. On the second both of us were quite busy and we could not find the time to fold the clothes. On day 3, I tried a strong nudge to make sure I pay attention to it some time during the day. Hence I emptied the contents of the laundry bag on our bed. Within a couple of hours, I squeezed some time in to fold the clothes and store them away.
There were two essential nudges. One, the fact that the bed looks very messy and would demand a lot of attention every time we look at it. Two, more a negative one - we won't be able to hit the bed without clearing it. I really hope this process it repeatable and we fold clothes on day 1.
