This week, I wanted to combine the oscillation and directional motion to make a simple integrated assignment - the simple wave creatures were born. The frequency of the wave increases with respect to the speed of the creatures, which in turn is determined by the inverse of the proximity to the attractor element. This gives the feeling of creatures that swim through water around its potential food source. It appears as though they swim faster when they are waving the body(the singular fin) faster. I repurposed the code from Dan Shiffman's crawler example. I was amazed at how a simple piece of behavior can add so much life to the 'creatures' on screen. I wanted to create something with such simplicity and that is hopefully as effective. Going forward, I want to make them turn around in a more natural way than just around a pivot. I think it could be achieved by combining the circular motion function with the current wave function.
