What is interaction? It is quite like asking "What is the meaning of life?" After reading Chris Crawford’s definition and Bret Victor’s rant, it gives a new perspective to what the word means.
I would define a good interaction as something that is unobtrusive. It is an interaction that merely complements an existing human action/reaction in the most natural way. Something that humans intuitively DO with absolutely no background whatsoever. An interaction that does not require a user manual. Something that is not thrust onto you because that is a way someone thought it should be done. Something that enhances one's experience of an object. Are there works from others that you would say are good examples of digital technology that are not interactive?
I think the Pager is a good example of a digital technology that was not (very) interactive. Even though the pager died its own death when cell phone technology became affordable to the masses, it served a very important role in its time.
